Together With Hill Country Veterans

Working Together to Save Lives

Who We Are

Together With Hill Country Veterans (TWHCV) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing veteran suicide through education and community outreach. TWHCV focus is on rural veterans as they have an increased likelihood of suicide due to lack of mental health resources, isolation, and easy access to weapons.

What We Offer

TWHCV offers FREE suicide intervention training and education to the public to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding suicide. QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) is our primary education method. These classes are offered free-of-charge and, depending on your time constraints, can be tailored to your group and taught either virtually, or in-person.

Why We Do This

Death by suicide is preventable and the factors leading to a decision to do so can be mitigated if addressed in advance by a caring and trained community. We can save a life if we know what to look for and have the training and courage to act.

Veterans Direct Assistance Programs

A small problem can feel insurmountable when you're already carrying a heavy load. What might seem like a simple setback to some can spiral into a crisis without a good rational reason. TWHCV recognizes that these moments of acute stress are often the catalyst for feelings of hopelessness. The Veterans Direct Assistance Program is a critical safety net designed to intervene before a temporary hardship becomes a lasting tragedy.

This program provides immediate, tangible support for veterans in need. Whether it's covering an overdue utility bill, funding emergency repairs, or helping keep a roof over someone's head, our mission is simple: relieve the pressure so healing can continue. By stepping in at these crucial moments, we aim to give veterans the breathing room they need to recover, regroup, and reclaim their path forward. For many of our heroes, this assistance isn't just financial, it’s a reminder that they're not alone.

Education Programs

Suicide intervention doesn’t start at the crisis point. Making a noticeable difference starts with training, connection, and community. Many veterans face invisible battles long after their service ends. PTSD, isolation, and the loss of identity can quietly erode mental well-being. Unfortunately these struggles often go unnoticed or unrecognized.

Our goal is to create long-lasting change by providing education resources, training programs, awareness campaigns, and community-building efforts that increase awareness and create safety net for our veterans. We also spread awareness to break down stigma, so that asking for help is seen as a sign of strength, not weakness.
